Announcing new study on professional learning

Today NSDC?released to the public a national study on professional learning. Conducted for NSDC by Linda Darling-Hammond, Ruth Chung Wei, and a team of researchers from the School Redesign Network at Stanford University, the study, Professional Learning in the Learning Professional: A Status Report on Teacher Professional Development in the U.S. and Abroad, compares U.S. teachers' experience with professional learning with that of teachers in other high-performing nations. ? This is the first of three studies that will examine professional learning within the U.S. Future studies will measure the effectiveness of professional learning at the state level and deepen understanding among educators and policymakers of what it takes to enact and implement policies that result in improved systems for teachers' professional learning. ? In my next few postings, I will share findings from this comprehensive examination of the status of professional learning in the U.S. As the study reports, each year the nation's nearly 3 million teachers experience some form of professional learning. This study helps us understand if that professional development is producing the intended results. I invite you to review the study and share your thoughts about effectiveness of professional learning and the implications for leaders of professional learning. ? Good afternoon. The discovery of a new dish does more for human happiness than the discovery of a new star. Help me! Can not find sites on the: Natural alternativeto propranolol.
